Hi all!

I just purchased the SE M600i in WHITE! I must say, this phone is an amazing one indeed. I'm just now learning to tweak the phone.

I have been trying to figure out why i cannot change my icons to .PNG icon files in my m2 card. I'm trying to change the main screen icons. I'm trying to change the icons of the 5 original shortcuts. (contacts, calendar, speed dial, messaging, main menu) Could i be that i cannot change those?

I have searched and done what others have said. I did 3 master resets, 3 SEUS's with no degree of success. I have searched on google as well with not much luck. Here is my firmware details, i'm not sure how new or old it is (SEUS says i'm up to date):

Phone:
CXC162037 R9EC001

Bluetooth:
CXC162058 R3A01

Organizer:
CXC162071 R5B02

CDA:
CDA162011/2 R5B02

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

welcome to esato.
you made a great decision on buying a m600.your firmware is the latest, even i think its not very stable.the previous was better imo.
to change the icons of stand by shortcuts, you must make a copy of the .png images on phone memory, in pictures. my path to the files is c:\\pictures\\icons
hope this helps

I might be worth checking that the files 'really are png types and are at the required size (128 * 128) to work. Just a thought.
Also I have the images stored on my memory card... works from there ok.

Thank you for you help. I've tried this many many times now with no such luck.

I also checked and the file is a .PNG file and it is 128 x 128 in size. I still can't seem to get it to work.

The thing is though, when i browse for a .PNG file, every folder i go into appears empty when i know the actually do have files in there. If i browse with File Manager I see each file in all the folders, but when i go to the icon more>edit>shortcut icon>browse....there seem to be no files in these folders.

Thank you for your help again, i hope we can figure this out! It's great to be here by the way!

I assume the problem is that the files 'don't look like PNG types on the phone.
have you tried putting them on the stick and then looking at the file using a PC. Does this work ?
Is the filename or extension an issue ? what are they called etc ?

I assume they are stored in the pictures directory ? (i know it is a silly question !)

Yes i have tried nearly everything i can think of.

~Browsed with File Manager. The PNG files show up like pictures and i can view them fine. I can seem them through the computer when connected with USB cable.

~Copied files to phone and still they aren't there when i try to replace the icons.

~Copied to card and still no luck.

Not sure what else to try really. They say i have the most up to date firmware but i saw someone with new firmware? Is that possible? Thanks again for your help and support!!
