the p990 only supports 3GP, MP4, and RealMedia video. Most videos on the internet are flash, wmv or avi.

YES the p1 and the p990 can stream the mobile youtube vids, if you get your wifi set up right.

Just to report, I've had no luck whatsoever streaming video over wifi reliably on the P990 and I've been trying absolutely everything I can find or think of for a very long time now!
Normally I defend the P990 against it's critics but not in this case, it's something that SE got seriously wrong.
I'm not saying it's impossible but I am saying that I think we're banging our heads against a brick wall on this one.

did you actually read the above post?
besides, if you use orb, you can easily stream video without even messing with rooter settings (only in real media though, other formats need rooter settings change)

Yes, 'actually' I did read the above post, 'actually'. Did you 'actually' read mine? If you did, you'll note that I 'actually' said reliably stream video and that I've tried just about everything
The problem is the P990's tendancy to crash due to, presumably the age old memory issues, and so it is not necessarily a software, website or router issue.
'Actually'...

To be honest its is such a complex issue that I now doubt that there is single solution to the problem right now. If you add in the obvious deficiencies in the streaming video app that comes bundled from SE then you are gonna be lucky to get it working well. With so many different makes of router out there, and with a wlan implementation that seems geared towards the higher spec (over £500) routers then it really doesn't surprise me that so many people are having a problem.
The real question, to me, is "is it actually worth it?" the quality of the video streams available from youtube which actually work on the p1/p990 is so bad that I myself consider them unwatchable.
