> what is itunes doing?
Bookmark topic
ok so I finally decided to install iTunes a couple of hours ago and that all went well. Since then it seems to be going through my music collection "converting" it.
I have about 14gb of WMA @ 128kbit but no extra disk space is being taken during this "conversion"
its only up to 3.82gb and so will run all night I'm guessing
what is it doing

hmm, well its not taking much space and I didn't get a choice of settings so I hope its keeping the same bit rate, though if I like itunes I suppose I'd be better to rip all my CDs from scratch
anyway, thought it was about time to try it out. thanks for the info. wonder where its putting them all! better do a search

I'm on vista and a search for *.mp3 didn't come up with anything yet but I just found the settings which suggests its doing AAC and since I don't have anything that will play AAC (except the pc) I'm now stoping it and restarting with MP3 as I have lots that can play mp3!
I'll take your word for it and persist with this try out!

Not sure if this is still valid about iTunes and Vista... but this was on the BBC on 5th Feb...
Apple had basically told Vista upgraders that iTunes was not yet compatible... but would be in the next few weeks...

@masseur, I am also using vista for use with itunes, can you tell me under edit-preferences-advanced-burning, if your CD burner is supported, mines is not and am hoping the next patch will fix this.
Thanks.
