> P990i DS970 & latest firmware
Bookmark topic
Hi All
Just converted my Voda branded P990i to World Generic with latest firmware (R4B03) from SEUS (thanks to kulankendi CDA change thread) and noticed something really great for me and wondered if anyone else had noticed the difference.
I use a SE HBH DS970 stereo BT headset which prior to the upgrade had difficulties maintaining the connection if I was too far away from the phone or my body/hand came between the P990 & the DS970.
I now find the reception is unbelievably better with no break-up at all even turning my back to the phone with the DS970 on my chest around my neck!!
I always thought it was the DS970 that was the weak link but now looks like it was the P990.
The DS970 is a stunning bit of hardware with exceptional sound quality but was let down by the loss of connection, but not now!!! It even seems a bit louder too now.
Any body else found an improvement? My DS970 is firmware R2B

I can, both on the P990i and the W950i it now works a hell of a lot better and like you at first i thought it was the head set, now i know it was the BT software on the phones!!

i'ts not only with the specific headset, the new firmware works great with all the se headsets even the older ones. I have (more or less) 10 se headsets and before they would lose connection and disconnect but now the connection is very strong and stable even with the hbh-200 with previous p series phones call list would not work, but now all 10 latest incoming, outgoing, missed calls can be looked up directly from the headset and called.

Can you check if videos plays without stuttering with the latest firmware? That has been my main concern with the p990 + ds970.

But did you not have stuttering before? I have not yet read about anyone who experienced smooth sound when playing long videos, like a tv episode converted with M3 or Super. But then again that was with the previous firmware, would be excellent if that was fixed, please confirm if that is the case!

I actualy gave up on Bluetooth as I was tired of unrecognised devices constant re -piaring etc a while ago, but I really am fed up with wires especialy in the car.
Could any of you HBH-DS970 owners help me with the following please.
1. does it work with TomTom eg will it send the voice directions to me via BT?
2. Do you get the problem of the device not being recognised and having to re- piar it each time you want to use it?
3. will the phone ring in my ear even when listening to Music?
If it looks good I will go and get one this weekend! what should I be paying in the UK?
