I've just got a new laptop, regretably with vista on it.
I've followed instructions to instal the software for my phone on laptop, which has worked brillantly.
But now I am faced with another problem... Getting my laptop to recognise my phone, as so far it won't find it in the slightest.
Any suggestions? Please?

Hmm... might i suggest installing XP and dropping Vista? Its only just hit the market, and given MS reputation.. its only barely a beta copy..
well.... all the previous new Operating Systems were....
It will work in about 6 to 9 months...
XP works fine with my my W800..and now replaced with p990, which also works!
Not very helpful i know.. but trying to be realistic..
cheers Oz

I agree. Plus Vista comes in several versions as well, so not all versions have full functionality. Vista Ultimate is "The Ultimate" package.
Second, Vista is built around slightly different platform then its predecessors and you will find many programs that fail to "work" on Vista.
Third, Vista is designed for major HARDWARE upgrade, since many "old" parts will be uselles (in terms of performance compared to XP) running them on VISTA.

I would rather have XP back. But as I just brought a new laptop, and they're getting sold with vista on them now, apart from the odd one or two, but those weren't what I wanted. So I'm stuck with crappy Vista. (Home Premium). I'ved already had to face the problem of getting my modem to work with vista, and my printer. The only thing that worked with it was my MP3 player, which since it was made by microsoft, I'd kinda expect it to.
[Vista = Eye Candy (but crap to use).]
My laptop now recognises my phone, and lets my browse the files on my phone... It just won't let me add or remove any files from my phone. Its teasing me. Lol. Any more suggestions? Please.
[Oh and its Worcester UK]

Hi poisongirl13
You an always go to System Device manager choose what you want and run it in Windows XP sp2 compatibility mode.
I must say i also have a new Laptop with Vista Home Premium and so far have had no compatibility problems except for a Sony VN-X1 Skype Mouse which kills all other audio so can not be used. Thankfully that Aero thingy is either not here or not activated as i really don't like or want it. The only problem i have with Vista is it asks my permission so often after clicking to install things. Very annoying IMO but i suppose it releases MS for responsibility for our actions just wish i could turn it off. Other than that my Vista experience so far is all good everything else is installed and works fine, just need a decent defrag programme as the built in programme is still pants and now you can't even see the progress.
