hi, when i put a new o2 PAYG sim into my 8800 it is unable to send text messages, i get the error message

'Message sending failed. No network support for messages'

i have googled this and found nothing, can anyone help?

take a look in the message settings for the message type... if its anything other than text then change it an it should work...

other than tha check the message centre number???

Scroll down to "o2 useful information" and look at the "SMS Service Centre number" to see if it's correct

Well mate, i too got this once because my message centre was wrong, i can't help you with o2 in particular because we don't have it in india.. Btw also check the sms mode.. Viz Gprs or gsm

Could it be a local network problem or something? Have you tried both turning the phone on and off, and tried sending a message from another phone?

its something to do with settings on the phone i think. it works with my o2 contract sim its just when i put an o2 PAYG sim in.

Ah this reminds me of my o2 "experience". My o2 payg sim seemsto be fine now but i had that exact same issue as what u described. Do the number(s) you are tryng to text begin with +44 or another prefix?
