While Wap browsing, I mostly get the following message

"No response. Try again"

and sometimes the following

"No gateway reply"

What do you think is the problem. Network congestion. ? But not many people have GPRS here. Density of GPRS users is 1_in_10000 of all mobile subscribers.
Any solutions . . ?

Hmm, I'm not the wisest in such matters...
Occasionally here in Ireland I get that message when for some reasons "vodafone live!" doesn't "want" me to access a certain web/wap-site. Usually, when I set a different internet access point, like vodafone.isp, it's o.k.! Reversely, some downloads to phone don't work via vodafone.isp, but do work via "live!" (like opermini...)??? This being Ireland noone's been able to explain it to me, BUT maybe here someone can enlighten both of us?!

on all the networks around the world GPRS works in a way that it doesnt get its own personal connection each time u connect!

What happens is that it slots in between voice calls and other data services! I.E.

Call GPRS Call GPRS Data Call SMS etc etc...

So if a network is being heavily used then it cuts out non important transmissions one of which being GPRS as it doesnt carry calls or txts!

On the ireland Vodafone thing thats likely to be the type of site or page u r trying to view!

Vodafone WAP will generally only access WAP pages and not HTML ones!

Whereas Vodafone ISP is meant for full internet access so this allows for the browsing of HTML sites and pages...

Hope this helps a little!

I agree with you to a certain extent. But as i have said earlier also, the density of GPRS users here is 1_in_10000, so congestion that way should not be a problem.
And one more thing, Google opens instantly about 99% of all times, whileas other Wap sites open only 5% of all attempts, and i have to retry about 4 to 5 times to open them. Why is this so.

but u obviously didnt read wot i said properly otherwise u would of noticed the bit about network congestion!!! NOTHIN TO DO WITH HOW MANY PPL USE GPRS!

Network cell sites can only accept a certain amount of active calls and if they r near capacity they wont let people onto them even if no1 else is using GPRS nearby!!!

Active calls r number 1 priority over every other bit of data transfered over the networks cell sites!

So it has a lot to do with poor infrastructure and low handling capacity, that is what i understand.

its all down to the networks not wanting to lose quality of calls by cramming a load of ppl onto the cell!!!

Why is network congestion not a problem with google. It opens instantly almost every time. ? Why problem with other sites.
