After failing to secure any buyers its time to say goodbye to BenQ and of course Siemens Mobile.

BenQ Mobile Germany's administrators have finally given up the battle to sell the business. Over 2,000 people will lose their jobs as a result.
Administrator Martin Prager of Pluta Rechtsanwalts GmbH, who took charge of the business said he had spoken to over 100 interested parties and had taken discussions further with as many as 30 players.
Biometric company Sentex Sensing Technologies and German laptop company Bacoc had expressed interest in the business. Local press speculation had also named Samsung as one of the more serious contenders to the business, although there has been no official confirmation.
'Until now there was a little hope left that the main assets and business of BenQ Mobile could be sold as a whole with the all the implications for the employees – this simply didn't work,' said a spokeswoman for the administrator.
'The administrator has talked to many, many different parties, private equity firms and industry players and some rather suspicious players that weren't able to find any money. None of the serious players dared to make an investment.'
Assets include stock and buildings and grounds in Kamp Lintfort.
Around 600 of the business's original employees have found new jobs, while a further 2,000 are being offered retraining.
BenQ's mobile division acquired Siemens' ailing handset unit in the summer of 2005 and was paid to take on both the business and considerable employment liabilities, but in September last year the Taiwanese parent company cut all ties with the loss-making German business, leaving it to call in administrators

I won't shed any tears over their phones. I din't like them.
On the other hand it's a crying shame how Siemens played together with BenQ to get rid of their lossmaking mobile division and it's employees. Foul play I say!!!

Do you really think so?
Yeah, is always sad when respected companies go down the plug hole like this.
Although, Siemens is still the powerhouse it always was.

I knew that was coming as Siemens were taking ages to come up with newer handsets, I thought the merge tho with benQ would get them rolling again oviousley not
Siemens were good phones my first colour phone was the S55
it was better then the T68i put it that way

yeah they have released a few newer phones they look ok actually!
I dunno if the merge has changed anything on the phones tho so have to wait for someone to tell us if they've used them here or what
wont be long before motorola go

SL45 wasn't the first one, and the S55 which was made on the ericsson platform wasn't really battery then the T68
i think SE should try to get their factories so they can produce extra phones to catch up with the rest.

I won't miss Siemens carkits that's for sure, they were poorly designed.
The cradle mounting brackets were tall and thin ruling out many of the usual mounting positions and often wobbled if mounted on soft dashboard surfaces. Nor did they use the standardised mounting srcew pattern.
The cradle was awkward to use and the snap-lock was flimsy. The spring loaded release mechanism for 'privacy mode' was too strong and awkward rendering the feature pointless, the wiring colour codes were unusual and the spherical speaker difficult to mount.
But most of all they would break down often and take ages to get repaired.
And I didn't like the phones UI much either.
