Hi. I got a faulty laptop in Janurary, and i thought i'd fixed it, but the problems popped up again this morning
The problem is this :
I have no idea what this means except the OS not found bit.
This happened before, but when i bought a new hdd for it, it seemed to have gone
I really need the laptop up and running as it has 2 essays on it, that i haven't handed in or printed off yet
If anyone has any ideas Please share them. Thanks

The quickest thing would be to download a bootable linux dvd, and then just run it. Linux nowadays has office and other tools for work.
EDIT: Here is a link to knoppix:

if you boot from a dvd, you won't have that problem. just a quick fix, so you can at least use it.

man, thats weird, could be mother board then? Saying that where did the new hard drive some from, was it new and do you carry your laptop around much?
When you boot into bios what happens, and when your looking to select startup drive what options do you have?

I got the hdd from PC world brand new.
Options ihave to startup are:
1. HDD
2. CD-ROM
3. Floppy Disk (i dont have a floppy drive
4. Realtech Boot Agent
When i select HDD it boots up but just before the login screen on XP shows, it usually blue screens, and just now it actually let me use XP for about a minute and then blue screened and restarts with a black screen with no writing.
