If u recompress the mp3 files u will get smaller files and that means more play time on your mp3 attachments 32MB media card.
Mp3 files with CBR (Constant Bit Rate) 128kbit on 32MB u will get about 30min play time.
But if u follow my steps on recompressing the mp3 files u will get about 70min play time.
With the software RazorLame (u can get it on
www.divx-digest.com) u can recompress the files to VBR (Variable bit Rate). And to get smaller files u only use mono sound (but what is the difference, u only want to listen to music not watch a movie).
The following steps are.
Mono sound
32-96-160kbit at ARB (Avarage Bit Rate, it's the same as VBR)
44kHz
The quality are about the same as the 128kbit CBR files but 60-70% smaller.
Good Luck!

mono sound sux .. i prefer to stereo audio. if you want mono , you better convert to lower bit rate too to get longer playback time. example like fm radio quality !

LOL... Just encode the mp3's using 8kbit/sek. That's 8 hours of music on a 32 meg multimedia card. Of course you won't enjoy the quality very much... But that's not important is it? LL

Hey I said optimized sound quality, not maximum compression.
The quality is pretty high for about 70min on 32MB.
U can compare the optimized mp3 files with ordinary 128kbit sound quality.
And the mono function is the main factor for the storage problem.
Stereo 128kbit are shared my two channels, that means 64kbit on each channel.
So mono 64kbit has the same quality as stereo 128kbit.
When u optimize, u don't want to trash the quality too much.
Compare for your selfs to see the difference!
