> W550 white screen

I have this W550. When the charger is plugged in, the on/off button glows red for a bit and then when you try and switch it on, the white screen just displays.
Tried a different charger, but it's not that and have also tried plugging the usb cable and the pc doesn't pick it up.
I have also noticed that the charging port is quite dirty and could do with a clean, I have a soft toothbrush to clean it, but is there anything else that is safe to use?

No it's not under warranty. Will find out how much it would cost.

if the w550 has no the latest firmware, you could try SEUS to upgrade it. this would solve the problem. although i've seen some ppl complaining about the WSOD in w550.

Well it's not the battery. I have tried my own battery from W810 and it just displays white screen with that. So I am going to charge the battery in my phone and try and connect it with SEUS to update firmware and see what happens.

Sounds most likely to be a firmware problem, the dreaded White Screen Of Death!
If SEUS doesn't fix it, it could be a case of going next to someone like Wotan and doing it through them.

Well the SEUS detected the phone ok and updated the firmware.
Although when I switch it on it still displays the white screen, but when the screen goes off, you can "sort of" see the start up screen underneath. Although, whatever button you press, it just comes up with the white screen.
Do you mean Wotanserver? I have never used them before, but successfully flashed a K750i to W800i with someone else last year. Have you got a link to them?
