I recently recieved a Samsung D500 which wouldn't power up at all, even with a charged battery. No signs of life whatsoever.
So, as it was dead anyway I thought I'd try spraying the phone's mainboard with WD-40 all over. I sprayed quite a liberal amount over it, then left it to dry for a few minutes on a piece of kitchen paper.
Well, I put the phone back together, and what do you know, it powered up!
It's been on now for a few hours now, and so far (touchwood!) hasn't done anything odd like turning itself off or otherwise misbehaving.
It just might be worth investing in a can of WD-40, spraying some of it on any water damaged phones you have that aren't powering up and see if it fixes it! This D500 didn't seem to have a lot of water damage, don't know if it would work on those that are more extensively moisture damaged or not, but it might just be worth a try!
Anyone else tried this, I think there was a thread on doing this somewhere but can't find it now!

The only reason i wont use WD40 on a phone is because it can leave a sticky residue i tend to use a Electrical Solvent Cleaner as this totally evaporates, but if the WD40 is doing the trick why stop!

I'll see how this D500 goes though, see if it continues to work OK, though it's encouraging so far, even seems to have fixed a slight problem with the data ribbon that I was using in the phone, the camera never worked when using that ribbon in a phone, seems to be working fine now!

Basically WD-40 seems to be able to fix pretty much anything - that D500's still behaving so far, just played Tetris on it for 15 mins with no erratic behaviour.
I'm wondering if I dare spray some on the charger block at the bottom of my K800i, that won't charge via the charger but will via the USB cable due to a bit of damage caused by moisture. Though I might leave it as it is, got a dead K800i coming hopefully tomorrow I'm planning to cannibalise for spares!
