A heavily pregnant woman's handbag was stolen by two teenage cyclists in Oxford.

The 24-year-old was walking along London Road, Headington, near the junction with Gladstone Road, at about 9.30am on Thursday, when the boys cycled up behind her.

One grabbed her bag from her shoulder and they both rode off on their bikes. The woman was not injured.

A Sony Ericsson mobile phone and a pair of white gold diamond earrings were in the bag.

Both youths are white and of slim build. One was wearing dark blue jeans and a black sweatshirt, and the other a dark grey hooded sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.

Pc Joanne Downer, of Oxford police's robbery team, said: "This was a particularly nasty incident, since the woman is pregnant and could have been hurt.

"I appeal to anyone who saw what happened or to anyone who knows these youths to contact me."

I personally believe that lashes should be introduced in the country for such crimes!.

make a good example of such criminals and watch the crime rate drop....100 lashes should do the trick!

The law is just too soft!

Here in Nigeria, you could get stabbed for a Nokia 3310. Or you could be driving and get caught in a traffic jam with the airconditioning on and the windows up, then someone comes along and smashes your car's window with a hammer then asks for your phone irrespective of what make or model it is.
A snatch job is what amateurs do here.
