Ok, so im back to SE after being away for almost two years messing around with Pocket PCs and Blackberrys, and I cant believe its taken me so long.

I just recieved an M600i from orange, and love it, but have to problems, one is that i did a hard reset and have lost anything that was put on there to begin with, including a theme that i quite liked. The other problem i have is that the orange menu bar on the right is horrible and on the pocket pcs this was easy to remove, but i cannot find a setting to do so.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

You have to debrand it,which means to put the World Generic SW on it at some service but you might loose warranty. Put all you stuff on your mem stick so you won't loose it next time-that's what I do.

If you can't get to a service centre (or the service centre won't debrand it - some won't) you can do it at home using the Kulankendi client, and the standard SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service).

For SEUS to upload the World Generic 1 firmware to your phone, your phone must have the correct CDA number (you can see this in the System Information available from the Tools menu). At the moment it will have an Orange-branded CDA, meaning SEUS will only update the phone with Orange branded firmware. To change the CDA you use the Kulankendi client, for which you have to buy one credit (more at www.kulankendi.com) - that's about £4-5.

Once the CDA is changed, SEUS will assume it's a generic phone, and give it the generic firmware.

There's more detailed info and walkthroughs on all this in the Kulankendi thread - http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=141900

That sounds like thats what I need to do, but that has brought around another two questions. Where is there a SE service centre list (or could anyone tell me if there are any in north london? And is it possible to flash the rom using a mac?

Thanks
