> New £20 note Launched
Bookmark topic
A new £20 note featuring a portrait of Scottish economist Adam Smith has come into circulation.
The note includes a range of enhanced security measures designed to prevent counterfeiting, such as a wider holographic strip and microlettering.
The new image of Smith will mark the first time a Scotsman has appeared on a Bank of England note.
Current £20 notes, featuring English composer Edward Elgar, will be phased out over the coming months.

No thanks we don't want the Euro!

Exactly.... every sovereign country should have there own identity, and currency is a huge part of that identity....we don't want any United States of Europe telling us how we should live!

My GF works in the bank and brought one of these notes home tonight! (she tells me its hers!

) any how when i saw it i was surprised having not heard of any new note being released, my initial response was, " so i take it we ain't getting the euro any time soon " to which she replied "word is we'll never get the Euro, as the £ is way too strong"
So Go £ !!!

GRRRRRRR..
why are they changing the £20 again when the £50 is still stuck on the old layout!?
all notes bar the £50 have changed over the last to be the £5 and now they are changing the £20 again.. does this mean we will see a new £10 and £5 soon? if so what about my poor £50's?? all the ones i ever see (and i see a few) are always battered and are in need a replacement!?
sort it out the bank of england please?
oh and as for euro!? not gonna happen in our lifetime put it that way!

Most of the new £50 notes i see are new, some are old to be fair.
I dont really like the new £20, what was wrong with the old one?
And as for the Euro, no way, no thank you lol

Hmmm, nice but it does look rather suspiciously "European" like...
With European Union membership, dying traditions and culture; the change from GBP to EUR would be the final execution blow on the UK/Britain and all she represents. Sure we'll still have some other remaining British aspects, but this will be the complete political/economical EU takeover.
"But we have our own dream and our own task.
We are with Europe, but not of it.
We are linked but not combined.
We are interested and associated but not absorbed."
- Winston Churchill.
