Hi all
Sorry if this is obvious and I'm just being a half-wit.
How do you actually connect to WiFi hotspots to use the internet?
If I scan in WLAN, find a connection, try connect to it - comes back stating "Connected" - if I then boot up the Web, it doesn't use this connection.
Also - if I look at my Internet Accounts, I've got in this order:
Ad-Hoc Bluetooth PAN
Home (Wireless Router for Broadband)
O2 Postpay GPRS
Prepay WAP GPRS
Prepay WAP GPRS
Yep - got that last one twice for some reason.
Should there not be a "Default Wifi" or something.
In Groups - I've got 2 set up:
Internet -
1. Home
2. Prepay WAP GPRS
3. O2 Postpay GPRS
WiFi Only
1. Home
Am I missing a Default Wifi account or am I just being a spanner!
Cheers

Yeah DefaultWiFiAccount needs to be at the top of your list - or at least above any GPRS connection.

should work then!

How do I add that account seeing as it doesn't appear in my lists?
Isn't this the one that people were saying you couldn't delete / edit?
I seem to have lost mine without even trying !
Cheers

I found after doing the scan followed by the connect that DefaultWifiAccount appeared at the top anyway

The default will only appear after you first connected to a FREE wiFi spot. It will not appear when you setup secure connections, or manual accounts.
Once it's added, you must go into the preferred and make it ur first option.

Cheers for that.
I'll give that a go and see how I go.
I take it you scan first to find the hot-spot connection, connect and then update your Internet accounts list so it looks for this first when booting up the web in the future?

When you've connected to an open hotspot without any security the DefaultWiFiAccount is created automatically and then placed at the top of the connects list in your default group. Everything should work perfectly

OK this is driving me mental now.
I really need some help in establishing what I'm doing wrong or what the phone's not doing right!
I have my preferred Internet Group set as "Wifi only" - a group I set up myself that currently just has my home Wireless Broadband connection in it.
If I do a Wireless search and find a Wifi Hotspot - click connect - it states "Connected". - I then look in Connections Manager and it hasn't added anything to the Group like "Default Wifi" - instead it adds Prepay WAP GPRS to the top of the list and uses that for Internet browsing, even though I've just connected to a Wifi Hotspot!
Why will it not use or add "Default Wifi" account and let me use Wifi Hotspots?
My accounts had a Default Wifi account in there before I did the FW upgrade a few months ago. Don't seem to have one now. But as advised above, once I connect to one it should surely add this to a group!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
