I have tried jZip by freEPOC for UIQ3 but sadly it doesn't seem to work on my W950. I wrote to Malcom, who wrote jZip and he says that the W950 doesn't support Java CDC (whatever that means) and that Sony failed to include it in this model. It seems to work on the M600 and P990.
I was under the impression that a program written for UIQ3 would work on all three systems.
I have heard that Xplore does zip files and all but haven't tried it out.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Would be really great if a Zip manager was released for the w950.

i'd reccomend jzip (i found it quite unstable) but if it runs it does the job ok
however I like xplore (believe it's from lonley cat, same as smartmovie) best. it works realy fast and relyable

Yup, have read those threads. I even posted in one of them lol..

Like I said, jZip seems to run on both the M600 and the P990 but it doesn't seem to run on the W950. (at least on mine, it doesn't)
It installs fine but when you try opening the program, it says "Not Found"

It doesn't make a difference whether it was installed in the phone memory or the internal card.

I'm sorry - I would really like to make jZip work on the W950i but it's not possible. As mentioned, SE decided to leave CDC Java out of the W950i firmware - although it's included in the P990 and M600 firmware. For those who don't know, CDC Java has the same origins as the Java that runs on your PC. It's a little different from the more common J2ME Java that runs on most mobile phones. In summary:

P990/M600: both CDC Java and J2ME Java (jZip can run)
W950: J2ME Java only (jZip cannot run)

Best regards,
Malcolm
