your outgoing settings are not correct. just double check in the advanced settings the security and the port.

Hey Guys
Thanks for the quick response. have checked the settings and everything is fine.
I'm using AOL if that would help.

as I said, you can't use your ISP settings.
most ISP's block access through their SMTP servers unless you are actually connected to your ISP, which you are not when you are on your phone. This is to stop spammers using all sorts of otehr companies SMTP servers to send out spam
you'll need to find out theSMTP settings for your mobile phone service provider

were you using an authenticated SMTP session (i.e. you enter your AOL username/password into the settings?)
anyway, who is your mobile provider?

ok, well if you are doing authenticated SMTP then it sounds like an AOL problem. Authenticated SMTO is the exception to what I mentioned earlier because you are, in fact, logging into AOL in order to use their SMTP
anyway, I'm on t-mobile now and I use
smtp.t-email.co.uk as the outgoing server. no username or password are required so tick off that box so it doesn't try to use them
that should sort you out
