i have just got a new p990i, i heard it had a business card scanner on ht phone, i followed the steps in the manual and could not find it, i am also missing the quickoffice software which is also mentioned in the manual, any ideas? the phone is on orange

so if its branded i dont get the good software then, does this mean if i debrand i will get it? i thought the scanner was a feature of the p990, why would orange not include it?

Yes, you should get the software if you debrand.

Yes, it is a feature, but it's a 3rd party feature. I'm not sure if this is also a thing in your case, but in some brandings, they even take away the web browser and substitute it with some other one..

many thanks guys, ok, at this point i feel i should probably mention im a complete n00b with this phone, had it for few hours okies, the cda is CDA162008/16 R3A02 i did connect the phone and run the sony update program, but it said it didnt need to upgrade, im just looking to get the most out of the phone and thought these features would be pretty nifty, so what do you guys suggest, debranding? and how does that work?

ah, it would appear all the sed functions appear when you open up the keypad of the phone, sorted
