I've recently acquired 2 new phones: a Nokia 6234 with stereo speakers and great sound and a V630i which I like better but which has just one tinny sounding speaker.

And the V630i speaker is on the back of the phone so whenever I put the phone down I lose significant volume for music and incoming calls.

Just plain dumb!

Does SE make any phones with stereo speakers on the sides like the 6234?

BTW, I must admit the Nokia headphones are a better design than the SE ones. Some catching up to do I think for SE...

as i recall, there isnt any. yesterday we discussed it here in another thread, i made a suggestion for the buyer, to test 6233. which do served me well and got stereo speakers as well

sony ericsson w550i and w600i has stereo speakers but one speaker is placed on the side while the other speaker is placed at the back.

i think the W550/600 is the only SE phone with stereo speakers if im not mistaken, personally i think SE should put stereo speakers on most of their high end walkman phones, they have a so much better sound quality

The W600 may only have one of the speakers on the side, but this works out better anyway because the one on the back doesn't just fall flat on the floor so it doesn't get muffled and the sound is reflected, making a cool effect. Ditto the W800 and K800, but these only have the one on the back.

Stereo speakers on a phone are to close together to actually make the stereo effect work in my opinion.

Well, yeah but they do still provide more volume, meaning they don't have to be amped so much and give off better quality.

the 6233 ones arent that bad. of course, its not a real stereo widening feature, but u can do recognise it when u listen to the radio or mp3
