Sony Ericsson saw its share in the Taiwan handset market surge to a record high of 19% in February, as compared to the 16.7% it recorded in January, according to the estimates of sources in the Taiwan channel.
Volume handset sales in Taiwan increased by 7.4% sequentially to reach 647,000 units in February, the sources indicated.
Nokia retained its title as the largest vendor in February but with its market share declining from January's 28.9% to about 28%, whereas the second largest vendor Motorola saw its share drop nearly three percentage points from the previous month, to about 21.4% in February.
Other major vendors last month include Samsung Electronics (10% in volume sales), LG Electronics (2.5%), Asustek Computer (2.5%), BenQ (2.0%), Inventec Appliances (OKWAP) (1.0%) and Dopod (1.0%), the sources noted.
In terms of sales value, Nokia continued to hold a 30% share, followed by Sony Ericsson (26.0%) and Motorola (15%), said the sources.

very interesting how the difference in strategy between nokia and SE is reflected in the figures.
nokia vs SE
Volume: 28% vs 19%
Revenues: 30% vs 26%
by catering to the mid and high-end of the market, SE is more efficient in generating revenues. it affirms the SE strategy of not prioritizing volume per se, but on producing models which have much better margins and profitability.
excellent work, SE!

To get more market share Sony Ericsson should offer better equipped phones in future i am saying this is because i am close to what customer wants as I own a shop and prefer to sell Sony Ericsson Phones
I took possession of stock of w880i a couple of days back but i want to know is that Nokia6300 supports 16 million tft screen why can't Sony Ericsson fit a competitive screen on the high end mobiles why just 256k colors only.
The W550i was a great success thanks to 2 speakers. After that Nokia copied it and put 2 speakers on its many phones like 6670, N73, 6233 but Sony Ericsson didnt on any after W550i. why? The K750 speaker also offers high volume speaker but Now K550, w880, w830 etc doesnt have that high volume. Customer want their phone to be louder.
we want Sony Ericsson to Please fit better screens and more volume speakers on its future sets as customer demands more.
