i changed the housing on the phone and followed instructions completely... now when i slide the lens cover open it doesnt read that it's open... if i select the cam mode from the main menu it says open lens cover but still nothing. can anyone tell me how to fix this.. thanks in advance.

Sounds like a camera ribbon cable problem. I suspect you've either snapped the little microswitch which detects when the camera lens cover is opened has been snapped off, or the ribbon itself has been torn, even slightly which is causing your problems.
I'm afraid the only way round it is to buy a replacement ribbon cable, but these aren't expensive, only about £10 delivered off Ebay, probably even cheaper!

When you swapped the facias, did you swap the middle chassis too? The camera unit is connected to the phone's mainboard by this ribbon cable, it also has a microswitch that is activated when you pull back the lens cover. It also has the flash LEDs attached to it too.
Another thought's just occured - it could be that you just need to plug the connector in properly on the back of the camera unit itself. It could well have just come slightly adrift as you were putting the phone back together. Also check the connector where it plugs into the phone's mainboard, make sure it's fitted snugly into it's connector. This could causing your problem - and is free to fix as all you need to do is open your phone up again, unplug then plug back in these connectors just to ensure they are sited correctly!

when i switched it out everything worked minus the cam... so i did reopen it and made sure everything was connected as it previously was... but it didnt seem to fix the problem... i mean the flash light still works just whatever is suppose to trigger the the cam once the cover is open doesnt seem to function... im not even sure what triggered what...
