I own a shop and prefer to sell Sony Ericsson Phones
I took possession of stock of w880i a couple of days back but i want to know is that Nokia6300 supports 16 million tft screen why can't Sony Ericsson fit a competitive screen on the high end mobiles why just 256k colors only.
The W550i was a great success thanks to 2 speakers. After that Nokia copied it and put 2 speakers on its many phones like 6670, N73, 6233 but Sony Ericsson didnt on any after W550i. why?
we want Sony Ericsson to Please fit better screens and more volume speakers on its future sets as customer demands more.

yeah. me too. but you see sony ericsson 250k colour can be best gsm handset (K800). you wonder if sony ericsson really put carl zeiss lens (like its cyber shot) and put walkman v.2 in next K850i. IT WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE especially if the design is good and it's small in size.
not only we're in the sameboat, but alot of people too...
you see K800is 1:2.8 (lens) S700 is 1:4.0 why?
i'm sure sony-ericsson is CAPABLE of making high-end phone, better than nokia Nseries, but its just SE adding some creative feature like remote control (do nokia have it?) so se is taking time. don't worry, its just the matter of time

they've come out with the plug on speakers, haven't they? at least those would sound reasonably ok. as for phones with 2 speakers, i don't see the point really. just find the quality of the speakers detestable, does anyone seriously listen to music using those speakers?

That's because it makes the phone use a lot more power - therefore, poorer battery life. And the picture quality isn't really that big a deal; it's nice, but if it sacrifices significant battery life then no. Not to mention the 6300 is only 2G.
W880 talktime: 6 1/2 hours
6300 talktime: 3 1/2 hours

Well no it wouldn't unfortunately. If SE put everything into one phone, the size, stability and affordability would all be compromised. So basically, it would sell in the huge numbers that the K800 and W850 have. SE makes more money from selling dedicated phones, and also more quantity. Simple marketing.
It's also easier to market, i.e. The new Cyber-shot K850; class leading camera. Or the new Walkman Wxxx; class leading music. Music and imaging just doesn't have the same ring, or perception in the public.

SE will only suffer loses if they do that kind of experiment. W900 is a prime example.

Can you really see the difference between 16 mil vs 256k screens?

oh yes.... its a huge difference, but 16m works perfect with the right resolution. for example 6131 has got 16m colours, but crap resolution, when i compared it with e60, its really disappointing

@skylineR35
Sorry to tell you this but SE does not have any Carl Zeiss lenses and it is very unlikely they will ever as Nokia has them.
@Tehy03
If the screen is of a good quality and the processor is fast enough including of course the graphics chip then yes 16m colours screens do make a difference. As apparently the screen in the N93i is even better than the N93 which is already the best screen i have seen in a device and i believe the N95 also has a 16M colour screen also.

Please explain?
The W900i was a high-end device for its time, hence the high-price; mid-2005 announcement I believe. I don't seem to remember any reoccuring problems with it, quite the opposite infact.
Plus the battery life was superb, especially if you turned the UMTS off.
What Shaliron is refering to is not implementing a 2MP camera, 3G and and Walkman player as in the W900i, but HSDPA, WiFi, 3G, high resolution imaging, huge memory etc etc all in upcoming devices.
That is what makes devices less stable.
