my telco operator has the withhold ID function for suscription. maybe yours has the 'call back witheld ID without knowing the number' function? that would be...interesting and...pointless? hehe...

I think this is one not so serious bug that the phone have.
It should check if the number is available before asking me for follow ups.

for all it matters, you rejected a call. u expect now the phone to be so intelligent and understand that the call was private, and actually do nothing?
how would you do that, systematically? the caller id functioned, but i am not sure if there is a difference between a private call and regular call, on the phone side. it matters for your network, wen it capture the caller id. s
o I take it it's the network that should identify that and mark as such. then the phone can act on it.

The phone knows that Caller ID was withheld, this is why you get something like Private Number. So the original poster does have a point in that the phone knows that the number was hidden, so why ask you to call back someone you have no idea who called you.

On the land lines phones the same happen. In case you have the caller id activated, the phone will display the name such as out of area, or private and such. So you are telling me that these fixed phone, have intelligence built to know when to display an out of are, or a private, ar the actual number and name? Doesn't all of this get send from the provider? I am just asking.

The networks tell your mobile over the GSM standards that the caller ID has been withheld. This is why different manufactures of phones show different messages eg, Private Number, Withheld, Unavailable etc
If you don't believe that a £400 smartphone wouldn't be able to workout that there is no point is setting a reminder, then I wonder why you've got such a phone.
