Surely the newer and better W850i should have better sound than the W810i? I've just received it and i'm really disappointed at how poor it sounds - the bass is not as strong, the maximum loudness is less and when the singer sings, the sound dips?
I'm thinking of returning it because of this issue. Anyone else had the same experience? Any way you can resolve the problem e.g. copy the W810i's codec to the W850i?

I think thats because you have mega-bass on. But going a bit off topic, it's also the camera. Even though the W850 is newer, it's a disappointment that it doesn't even have auto-focus like phones as far back as the W800 have.

I am using a w850i and im quite satisfied with its sound quality both in loudspeaker and headset mode, i used to own a w810i and i can say that my new w850i sounds better than my old w810i. Its loud enough for me and there's no dip in the sound when the singer sings. Try to upgrade the firmware of your phone or have it checked by a service center.

Not necessarily, I had the modified audio codec which cancelled out the hiss.
There is definately a difference in sound - the W810i beats it by miles (I have done a blindfolded test with numerous people to check!)
Am rather disappointed but other than that, it's a nice phone!
Will try a FW upgrade but SIM isn't active yet so will have to wait a day or two.
