As the title states I sold my K800 on ebay recently, and I got an email from the buyer asking for a refund as it is blocked, and I dont mean just network locked how could this be it worked fine with me .
I bought the phone myself from ebay to use with an orange P&G sim which I did ,but when I went contract I decided to sell the phone I even supplied the info to unlock it along with an unregistered sim, but now they are claiming its blocked and orange dont want to know , so does anyone know what might have happened as it was deffinatly workin five seconds before it was packed as I wipped all my numbers and texts from it.
Have they cocked it up some how ? have orange decided to be w%$"ers when she tried to unlock it ? Wot
Any input would be appreciated including possible ways of sorting this I realise its ilegal to unblock a stolen phone but this isnt stolen but that hasnt stoped her accusing me of being a thief and a conartist.

It could be something to do with the original owner, perhaps they're trying an insurance scam and were pretending it was lost or stolen. I can't see the unlocking process messing the phone up in that respect. Try contacting the owner previous to you, though I suspect if they're up to no good they won't reply!

How old was the sim you supplied with the phone, it could be it has expired. Ask the buyer to try another sim, bearing in mind that Vodafone and T-Mobile sims will still show a signal, but obviously won't call out.

Bear in mind that this may be a scam - ask for the phone back or evidence that the phone has been blocked before you refund any money. They may just be faking it to get the money back but keeping the perfectly good phone at the same time.

Good point vee - make sure you get the phone back before any refunds - there are a lot of people that try it on!

I had a slightly similar problem recently when someone tell me that a 3230 I sold them was faulty - but insisted they sent it back before issuing a refund, and on getting it back it hasn't misbehaved once! I suspect they just didn't want the phone and looked for an excuse to send it back and get their money back.

Yes, it is a common occurrence which is a shame - people have to find flaws in everything to try and scam and get money etc.

Contact the buyer and ask him to send proof of the blocked handset.

@Jojo :
Things like these unfortunately can happen to innocent people, when the original owner pulls an insurance scam and the second owner uses the phone only for a few weeks, then sells it on.
Phones get blocked sometimes even after months, as we've seen here recently.

Of course, when people hear about these things, they can get the idea, to use it to either return the phone, when they've changed their mind or pull a scam theirselves, trying to get their money back and keep the phone !

So, as said here before : no refund, unless they return the phone.
When the buyers are honest, they won't have any problems with this.

@marly - Yeah . . . that's why we have BAD KARMA, for those people who make BAD things to others . . . eventually, it will come back to them . . . in HUNDRED folds (like table-napkins) !
