I'm shortly going to be getting a
W850i that's locked to Orange, can these phones be unlocked easily now?
I do have an Orange sim which I've had for a while now, how much would it cost me to get them to unlock it - and would they send me the code with me not being the phone's original owner?
I did a search on the subject and could only find one thread on it that stated it wasn't possible to unlock these outside of service providers, but this was from October 2006. Is it now possible to do it?
And if so, can anyone unlock it for me, and how much would you want for it?

u can contact orange and see if they will give u a code to get it unlock but other than that. it is not easy to unlock the w850 at all. and unlocking has been suspended on sites.

How much will it cost me for the unlock code, would it be about £15, like with the BB5 Nokias?

Not good, but at least I'll (hopefully) have it unlocked soon!
As Boba said, Wotan doesn't do unlocking period, and Davinci/TMS currently aren't offering it as the unlocking's been suspended?

Well, I've been pleasantly surprised! The unlock code was emailed to me today, only a day after I requested it!
But it still isn't an ideal situation, I'd much prefer to have been able to do it myself, and for free, or even get the bloke down the market to do it there and then for a tenner!
Can't complain too much, now got a fully unlocked W850i - I'm tempted to use my last Wotan credit to debrand it - though will it end up re-locking the phone?
