if u read the manual it says 8 GB.
But in reality I have not see anybody who tested more than 4 GB. But I might be wrong.

and select the technical data. you will see something like and I quote
"Additional storage
Memory Stick PRO Duo, up to 8 GB supported.
64 MB Memory Stick PRO Duo supplied."
the same on the PDF version of the user guide, on page 148.

This kind of question has appeared a few times, and from what i gather, the Sony documentation seems to say that maximum supported memory card size is always what is at that time available. Therefore i guess if and when 32gb cards come on the market, i'd imagine the P990 will support such a size.
Just wondering though.. what on earth do you need that kind of storage on a phone for?! I mean 32gb is the size of a budget laptop!
cheers Oz

Hi Oz-Sco,
Apple seem to sell lots of 30Gb Ipods and they are old technology a one function device at best so I dont want one. I would buy 32Gb card if it was available then I have the best of both worlds.
I realy belive that given we already have laser keyboards and from what I hear really small projection units are not very far away, (one in development in Finland actualy uses moisture from the air to create a screen medium) these little wonders we carry around in our pockets will replace lap tops in a a fairly short space of time 32Gb will not seem that great then.

I had 1.53Gigs of hard disk space on my very first desktop 10 years ago, seems like a long way from where I used to be. I have 4Gigs on my P990 right now only because the 8 Gig MS pro is still unavailable where I am, the world's getting more and more demanding I reckon LOL

lol... yeah i guess we just always want more and more.. I just not got enough music to fill a 32gb card

guess i could always put TV on it too though....
I like the sound of that projector that doesn't require a screen! Do you have a link for that nitro? Sounds as cool as..
Have been admiring the laser keyboards for a while too.. but really want it built into my 990..
cheers Oz

I imagine a 32 GB card will slow the phone to a crawl if you try to read its contents; maybe its a good thing its limited to 8
