I've owned the Ericsson 1018s, T28s, SE T610 and now the P990i. I have recently parted with the T610, still in good working order (first time i changed phones with my old one still working :S) for the p990i, my dreamphone. :->

Although it's handsdown one of the best mobiles as for funcionality (as was the T610.. still is one of the better phones out there dispite it's age imo) i am dissapointed some real simple features are apparently missing in the mobile, some which make logical sence, others which where good features and shortcuts apparently abandoned from older phones. things in the T610 like being able to select an item in the shortcut menu by pressing the respective number on the keypad (i could navigate the T610 so fast by memorising the number for certain functions like 6 was for bluetooth, 2 was new sms etc..) no longer works. Not being able to turn off sound when u receive an incoming call (in T610 u press one of the side + or - buttons and the sound stops, leaving only vibration) i personally find a bit irritating cos since it's a "business phone" you may need to mute the call while in a meeting while u leave the room, a perfect business environment example. Also they didnt' think about assigning a button at being able to answer a call strait into handsfree mode and not having to play about with menus (ideal for when driving for example). Also, the apparent abandonment of phone profiles was a bit of a shock. why?

Another thing to consider is the unlock slider, this should not be able to unlock as soon as u slide it as it could sometimes unlock while in your pocket. instead, it shoudl act with the same delay as when holding down a button.

I dont know if any of the above are actually possible and never knew howto do it or i may have overlooked some settings in the menus. These are totally-possible-to-impliment features i hope maybe one day they'll become available in the P990..

try to update your phone's SW
the speed-buttons (123...) do work, but this feature was added later through a SW update

speed buttons work only on the main menu in P990. not in the shortcut list. or any other menu for that matter.. I just put hte flap back on as i had to interface too much with the touchscreen when i won't be able to hold a stylus (gets frustrating using your fingers or thumbs cos u select the wrong option more often than not)
