I've just recieved the unlock code from Orange for my W850i (much sooner than thought!

), and have a credit burning a hole in my Wotanserver account.
Do I dare debrand the phone, is it possible that the flashing process could reset the sim lock on the phone back to Orange? I'm also a bit scared of bricking the phone as I'm a complete noob at the software side, as people may know I'm generally a hardware man!
I've managed to sucessfully flash a W810i that was blocked, partially in the vain hope that it could be another problem causing there to be no signal, partially as a test to see if I could flash a phone sucessfully.
My confidence has been knocked slightly by not being able to flash a K800i (it keeps bombing out) though I suspect that's down to some moisture damage I've just found on that phone.
So, do I dare try it?

if you have unlocked the phone with a code, go ahead and flash it, it will remain unlocked no matter what.
did you unlock it with wotanserver did you say?

No, got an unlock code from Orange, don't think Wotan do unlocking. As I got the code from Orange I want to make sure it doesn't revert to it's previous sim lock, bit paranoid about bricking the phone too!

when you unlock a phone with a code you have 5 attempts to unlock the phone with the correct code, get it wrong and it will go down to 4, and so on.
only unsuccessful attempt deduct tries.
So if you get it right then the phone will be unlocked and you will have 5 attempts remaining.
The code can be used to lock or unlock the phone (the same code for both I believe)
When flashing the number of attempts will be reset to 5 whether or not the phone has been unlocked or not. So if for any reason it did get relocked, you could always unlock it again with the same code.

Oh no, I've just bricked it!
Partway through the flash the phone disconnected and wotan bombed out with a windows error message! it did this while i was trying to flash a k800i which i though was due to that being water damaged, looks like there might be something wrong with the config on my computer!
It's ever since i had to download the latest version, and the old version won't load, just says 'get the updated version'!
I'm very upset now!

i've got a w850i, it was voda branded & locked.
i got an unlock code from the voda database, then i used wotanserver to debrand it. it worked fine and it doesn't revert it to the original sim lock

I might pluck up the courage to have another go at doing this in a few days, I've found the possible problem is something to do with the setup on my PC, though I seem to be able to flash phones OK on my wife's laptop (Don't tell her!

)

Just managed to debrand it using Wotan without any problems! Though it asked me to send a text to SE to register it with them? I did, it's never asked me to do this before!
