My P990i often restarts when open more than 2 Apps (The Apps ocupies a little RAM), etc when I open Internet by Wifi then my phone has been restarted immediately... I think that is problem with phone 's RAM. I do: More--->Status--->Available Memory is ~ 12MB (phone 's started up OK). My storage Mem is only 48MB without installing any game or app.
Why? While specifications of phone is: flash ROM 128MB; RAM 64 MB, Storage Mem 60MB ? (Acccording to www.gsmarena.com)
I think the reason is that RAM. It is impossible to run many Applications (2 App) at the same time with Small RAM.So, my phone usually restarts (Message:"Your phone has restarted to improve high performance").
My CDA is 162007/5, region is HongKong2. Keyboard (flip closed) is Chiness,not La-tinh, when flip close can't type message. I uppgraded firmware to R7 (highest) with my CDA twice, 1 month ago. Now,I intend to change CDA to uppgrade R9.
I have some questions:
1. Anybody explain me why my RAM is only 12MB. If when I change CDA to cda/1 and uppgrade to firware R9 then is my RAM 64MB, not 12MB as now? (and can type message with La-tinh keyboard?).
2. If I change CDA to cda/1 then has my phone restarted?

Please, everybody help me!

No, the most it shows 16mb, dun confuse RAM and ROM mate, they dont work together

bout the sms, try to open it in flip open mode, u can change the input method in latin

hope they help, get the R9 international region, they r more stable then ur 5 region, consequently u'd lose ur chinese text input, i experienced it

try a master reset. its not normal to be abble to open just 2app at the same time. (or at least if its not opera plus anything else). Sometimes i get problems when i try to oppen heavy sites on opera and have the message aplication open too, but the phone dont restart... just get slow and dont load the rest of the web page if i not close the message app.

@To jakontil: Thanks for repling. Open it in flip open mode, I can't change the Input method in La-tinh because it has only 2 option: Chinesse input and None, not has La-tinh keyboard (region is HongKong1). My RAM mem can't be bigger than 12MB. Let me known how your Storeage Mem is? (me is only 48MB without installing any app or game). Why the specification of phone: RAM 64MB, Store mem 60MB....?

hi,
about the ram and the big drain of it is due to ARM processor which eats alot of ram to open apps.at the start up if you don't open anything and let the go to sleep mode for 1minutes you will gain 1MB RAM more.
and about the storage capacity:there are alot of extras downloaded in the phone so you can delete items you don't want.
for me i delete the vigay golf game and the demo and i'll gain mor 8MB of storage.

Sori mate, cant help more, but as far as i remember, mine came wit chinese input as default n it was one hell of the time being unable to sms in latin, but i found the way when tryin 2 sms in flip open mode, may b u could try '*' button, apologize for not trying it myself, cos since the r7 i hav switched to international region n lost my chinese input, proves to b more stable.

N with your RAM issue whats ur firmware? get the latest, it helps a lot! n yes my mem shows only 48mb, the rest out of 64 is used for os i suppose
