> Losing Faith in SE

I'm currently on my 7th SE (or Ericsson) phone, and I have been a faithful customer for the 13 years that I have been using cell phones. I like the functionality of the brand, and I used to consider it a dependable company. Gone are the days, however, when my phone could be run over by a taxi cab after falling on the asphalt (true story) and still work.
Here is why I am losing faith. Any suggestions would be encouraged.
1. I currently have a K700i which I've had for about 1.5 years. Recently I have been getting the dreaded "No Access" message on my screen. This phone has been carefully taken care of during it's short life. After getting a new battery, life was renewed for a couple of months, but now I'm having problems again. Is 1.5 years considered a reasonable lifetime for a product?
2. My girlfriend had to return her z530 to SE after 1 month because it was turning off on its own. SE refused to fix it claiming that she had excessively open/closed the clamshell (!?!? I had smoke coming out of my ears when I heard that one, but she wouldn't let me talk to them)
3. My best friend had to do the same with his z530.
4. I also own a T68i which I've had for about 6 years. Aside from a sticky #3 key, it works fine. However this phone is a replacement from my original T68i which had the "No Access" indication out of the box.
5. I honestly don't personally know of any SE users that have had no problems with their phones.
Now I cringe at the thought of having to switch companies and paying a small fortune for the opportunity of testing to see if a phone can meet my simple expectations of working for at least 2 years reliably and with the functionality I'm used to with SE. My experience with other brands has not been good. I have used several of Motorola's cell phones and have been appalled by their software. Same goes with Samsung. I mean, is it really necessary for example to lose an SMS message if a call comes in while you are typing it? My mother's Sagem drives me nuts. My only decent memories are from a Nokia, but that was ages ago. What if Nokia has gone down the same slippery slope as SE and cheapened their phones?
What does a consumer have to do to get a reliable phone these days?
Arrrggg!!!!! Mostly venting here, but any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

I had no problems with faulty SE phones until last july when i got a K800i. I had to have three before I got a proper working phone. Nobody I know (outside of Esato) who has a SE phone has ever had a problem with one. My mum uses a T68i every day and my dad has a 2 year old K700i that still works fine.
Once I had a P800 that I dropped and didnt work properly afterwards but managed to get Se to replace it under warrenty by not mentionng it had been dropped.
All manufacturers have problems with phones at some point. The reason i am now with SE is because I had severe headaches with faulty Nokias.

Never can you see (or there's a RARE case perhaps) any model-fone which has NO problemo on it . . . i have an ageing T68i too, which the only problem I've encountered so far is it's - mic (happened 2 days ago) and had it seviced at an
shop, and they just did a little cleaning (no replacement done though . . .). I guess these are just what you called isolated cases pal. Try using other model-fone brands . . . and I'm sure you will be back here and say: 'Just got my NEW
fone after a month's use of my - Samsung'

Hello there sorry to hear of your trouble. I myself have lost faith in SE as i never had so much trouble with them. I now these days stick with Nokia. I currently have a Nokia 6233 with software version 4.91 and i have had it a while now and had no trouble with it at all. Its never crashed it has fast menu navigation fast texting and its easy to use. Its the most reliable phone i had in years and its got all top features you could want. I know what people say about Nokia but i from experience have had less trouble with them than SE. Just never buy one when it first comes out as early software is when you have a few bugs. My brother has had a Nokia 6230i for over a year and not once has it crashed or broke down.

Most of my friends have nokias. None of them complained of any problem ever except for one who had a 3230 and it hanged often, (could have been due to the memory card).
Nokia phones are highly reliable and efficient. I've seen people sporting nokias for years, without any breakdowns..

I sold my k750 to a friend after one year of use, and now its comming up 2 years old and its perfectly fine - i honestly thought it would be done after a year but its far from the end of its life! Ive had several nokias as well and i must say they are also reliable too but i have friends complaining about their nokias breaking down, turning on and off cos they dropped it a few times where i never had this problem. It seems afew people here have had alot of bad luck with SE tho. I own a k800 now and its never caused me any problems over the 6 months that ive had it.

i have had 2 W550i's, both with a software fault. O2 upgraded me to a K750i which was great for the year I used it. I then upgraded to the K800i last November and at present I'm on my 4th K800i. Maybe I've been unlucky, but at the prices I would like to think luck shouldn't come into it.

in this span my second hand t28 was a pain in the ass!...i mean it gave me probs but it was too old already and my t65 gave me small FW bugs which some unauthorised ppl screwed it up even more!
my p800 w800 k800 and w850 has given me absolutely no probs...
ok not absolutely i replaced my w800 the second day after its purchase due to a faulty BT and my k800 DIED once...thts it,never gave me ANY OTHER PROBS!!!!
i have a friend who bought a NOKIA that had a bent internal board!
so it happens everywhere....what happened with you is unfortunate....

My T68i gave me the same "NO ACCESS" problem, I've had that phone for about a year and a quarter but, i think the cause of that was low reception. My T230 was just something else. The phone was just two two slow, slow when typing and hanging up a call (it always ate my credit off) and i had to put up with it for 4 years I was glad the day I got rid of it.
My z520 gave me the same problem when constantly opening and closing the flip. It also restarts when to many activity is taking place like listen mp3, minimize java and using the internet. The phone was just useless however, i didn't have the phone for 1 mouth...so i went and buy a k310 which gave me no problem at all.
Sometime the manufacture doesn't take time to test the phones before distributing them so they just sell it to a operator
When i went to bought my k310 (blue the only one in stock) it had faults with the numbers keys 2 6 and 9 so i had give it back and take the silver one (which i hate)
You will always find faults here. I'm sure if you visit a NOKIA/MOTO/SAMSUG/ FORUM and you type "complains or fault" in the search box you cant stop pressing the next button. previous next
What else should i say, "YOU CANT PLEASE MAN, THEY ALWAYS FIND FAULTS" My worst experience here was the "W810 Hisses forum" I hated that forum; a mean please, I'm sure if you max your stereo you can here the hisses when mute or not playing. My computer speaker give the same problem when max and nothing is playing, even when the computer is not on.
@NEVER give SE one last try. The k700 is almost out dated, get a cheap mid range brand k610, w710 etc. I'm sure you will be a proud of
