Hi all, I have a W700i and i got it from Taiwan. The current firmware i have on my fone is RICA021 and i wanna update it to R1DB001. I have a few questions though:
1. If i update my firmware, will i lose all the settings on the fone e.g. WAP setup, MMS setup etc? I know i'll lose the files such as pictures and music etc in there so i'll make a backup copy of them but if i lose the settings like WAP or internet setup etc is there a way for me to backup those settings?
2. Since my fone is bought it Taiwan, the region and the firmware is also Taiwan version right? Therefore how do i change the region so i can use the R1DB001 firmware for the European region etc?
3. After i changed the region do i use SEUS to update my fone or do i download the firmware?
That's it, any help is appreciated!
Almost forgot, can someone send me the link to download the USB driver for W700i? I lost my CD and i recently installed Windows Vista, i tried to install the Sony Ericsson suite i downloaded from the official SE website but it says that it's not compatible with Windows Vista.......so if i can't install the suite which contains the drivers etc inside, i thought maybe i can install the drivers manually so can som1 plz give me the USB driver? I need to connect my fone to my PC so that it detects my fone and i can send files to my folders etc, like using an USB flashdrive, also i need to update my firmware too so yea.........

If you reflash it via Wotan Server, Davinci, SEtool, SE service centre or Kulan Kendi, you'll LOSE all things including your WAP and internet settings. To back up them, Wotan, e.g. offers MobileEdit with special price. To do it for free try My Phone Explorer. Please, Google a bit.
Then, to change language, you must change CDA. Only 3rd party flasher can do it for you. Wotan Server is the easiest way out for end-users, no confusing technical terms unlike SEtool--which I believe is intended for technicians rather than laymen. After flashing with Wotan, don't worry SEUS works just fine with the phone although you change your CDA to other version. However, you don't need SEUS anymore as changing CDA is also flashing totally. You can choose R1DB with the preferred CDA. IMHO, R1BD is the final f/w release for W700i.

to get the W700i signed USB drivers. Find the 'drivers' link somewhere there and pick up the one for W700i. However, no idea whether it is Vista-compatible. Good luck.
