hey i was just thinking earlier what the hell went wrong at siemens! i mean weren't they the first to put mp3 on phones(SL42/45 OR AM I MISTAKEN)strange then that now their idea was taken on by other manufacturers with such great success yet even though it was some time later so y siemens never really gained so much popularity still makes me wonder....just a thought

You're right.....SL45 was the first mp3-capable handset(in UK), closely followed by Sony Z5M.......

First : P800(I think), K700
First Nokia: 6260(S60), 3300(S40)

I had a SL45 on Orange years ago and it was a great phone. I used to think Siemens were one of the best in the early days and their phones used to be the most reliable on the market until they lost the plot. Their later phones were good but they became unreliable. And yes i remember the mp3 on it. It had a huge memory card. Very good though.

Though NOT Mp3 related . . . I miss seein' some OLD-brand of celfones at present, I mean the likes of: Bosch et al. Philips is crawling to join the bandwagon with their some limited model handsets . . .

T610 is mp3 capable, but since it has only 2MB memory, you can't use it as an mp3 player as such. You can use mp3 ringtones however.

@Ranjith
I reckon you're talkin about the 5510

A real brick But extremely unpopular; didn't sell very well despite its big features. Even has more memory than the K700.

max_wedge, T610 is not mp3 capable, even if it had more memory. None of T series can play mp3 file.

5510 was announced end of 2001......6months after the Sony MZ5(not Z5M), and over a year after the SL45(I think the SL45i was out by then).......

.....and Max, do you really have a T610 that plays mp3s???? Because NONE of mine(currently 2, and a T630) do!
