> New PAYG Tariff from O2
Bookmark topic
O2 has launched a pay-as-you-go tariff that gives customers an extra eight hours of free calls per month.
The 'Favourite Place' Pay and Go tariff allows customers to choose a location and make 500 minutes of free calls from that postcode each month. To sign up, customers send in a text with their postcode.
The calls can only be made to other O2 mobiles and UK landlines. The tariff is likely to be popular with students, and home and location-based workers.
Sally Cowdry, UK marketing director at O2, said: 'Many of our customers make the majority of their calls from one place, and so Favourite Place allows them to make considerable savings.'
The tariff is open to new and existing customers.

Nice amount of mins just for ten quid BUT why only from your postcode. I dont like that since i make calls everywhere. Would not suit me but then again i am on Orange. I hope Orange change their pre pay tariff soon as it needs to be refreshed and better value. I think all the networks need to change their pre pay tariffs more often to keep customers happy and entice new ones.

Do these " free minutes" come at the expense of the free txts ?
The reason I'm asking is since I signed up to Favourite place I seem to have lost my free txt's !!!

You get EITHER the free texts or the free minute, not both.
As for why it's from your favourite postcode (and, also only to O2 and landline, NOT cross-net) is because it's cheaper. 500 mins for a tenner and getting to keep the tenner too, would be very expensive if they were any time any net any place, so they've got to cut the costs down somehow.
