Hi all up until a few days ago my W850i was fine but needed a new screen and keypad membrane. Fitted them today and all i get is a red light in the infrared port?

Thats when the charger is plugged in that the red light appears.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Constant LED = flat battery

Blinking LED = EROM problem

Hope it's your battery being flat!

Try updating the phone's EROM. I had an identical problem with my K800i after trying to fix the charger port. Download Wotanserver's client programme, connect the phone to the PC whilst pressing 2 and 5. It will update the Erom for free, only takes about 4 seconds!

That's odd! Are you pressing 2 and 5 and THEN plugging the DCU-60 in? Also just try connecting it pressing 'C', just to see if it'll recognise it.

Also try taking the battery out for a minute or two then try again, you often need to do that between attempts or the phone won't do anything.

Doesn't sound good! Try PMing gregface or Mike P, see if they can help at all. I'd offer to take a look myself but I'm still quite a n00b when it comes to firmware/flashing.

Have you tried another battery, in case it's your battery that's at fault? The batteries in these phones don't seem that good to me, I've got two genuine SE ones that are dead as dodos!

Is LED blinking or constant? 1, 5 or 10 blinks?

try taking the phone apart again and disconnecting everything so you just have the main board and back cover with battery in place.

1) See if phone turns on then, you will be able to tell since the vibrator should kick in if it is working,

2) could be sweat damage or a loose connection. disassemble/reessemble the phone and see if that helps

3) you say that the keypad needed replaced? why was this? water damage?

Water damaged phones can be working fine one minute and die the next minute, are water indicators on phone/battery red?

it was a little water damaged mate but worked brill with my other w850i screen but i was a bit rough with the membrane and managed to snap the connector.

It was fine though the other day vibrating and everything but now just a constant red led. No visible damage to the board too.

Oh and sorry the red light appears in the power button not infrared port.

Maybe ill give it one last try taking it apart again later as ive had the phone a month and cant see it just going dead.

If i get no result i will rid of it with the brand new screen and keypad membrane. Grr lol
