this is just a silly little trick but it shows just how easy it would be for SE to add an excellent feature.
i want to be able to see if i have messages or missed calls without unlocking my phone. i reallise we cant have the icons showing all the time, but it would be nice to have them on the "to unlock...." screen that appears when you press a button when locked.
What i've noticed is that if you press the "*" key then you can drag the "press unlock to confirm" screen down to reveal the status bar behind it.
that means that all SE would have to do to make the status bar visable straight away would be to simply make the "to unlock press...." pop-up message slightly smaller - then we could se the status bar by pressing any key. easy.

Good idea.. just had a play with it.
However sometimes when I pull the screen menu down to show the today screen under it, the phone goes into a funny mode where instaead of switching the display off as usal when you just leave it, it just stays on and flips between the today screen and the message to unlock all on its own !
Hence if I leave it the screen is always on (although slightly dimmed) and I can see the today screen below every 3 seconds etc.
