Hi

When i go to status option on my w950 it only shows about 8-10 MBs of memory space. I was expecting to see nearer 880 MBs of free space.

10 MB's is rubbish, it's barely enough space to bluetooth an mp3, and if i try a video, well, gets half way on before annoucing there is no space. Is this right? Only had the phone for a few days and I can't remember if it's always been like this

Can someone with a w950 tell me if this is correct

thanks

I have put just under 3 gigs of music onto my w950. But when I click more, then status, which brings up the date, model battery level etc, the Free memory line says 10 MB, not the 1 gig or whatever I have left out of the 4. And when i try bluetoothing anything over the 10 MB's the transfer fails because it says there is not enough space, despite the fact that i should have 1 gig spare

@BobaFett, no, the 4gb is the equivalent of the data card in the p990 or the M600. The main memory is 60mb as per m600 and w
p990

if you've had a w950 you also know that the 4gb is separate and treated exactly as a data card is, and if you master reset the phone, or even SEUS it, that part is not touched

well I don't know about N91, but then I don't answer question about it either. in this case the 4gb is purely data and is not part of this problem

@kaai696, at what point do you see this free memory? after running some apps? after startup?

have you tried the latest firmware update?

So the w950 won't show the free memory of the 'seperate' free memory like the w900 or k750? And if it's 60 mb, why am i getting around 10mb's free with everything closed?

I have the latest Vodafone Uk firmware I upgraded it yesterday. I first noticed the problem last night when i fill the disk space up too mauch and was told to delete some. when I checked the status the free memory remained around the 10 mb mark. I can't remember what it was like before I upgraded the firmware unfortunately

not sure where you are looing on W950 but assuming its in file manager, space available, you see the values separately

indeed the phones you mention show the memory separately too

eg:

memory stick mmm mb
phone nnnn mb

I am clicking 'more' at the bottom right of the home screen, and then clicking status. It does show the 2 seperate values if i go through file manager, but i was hoping that the status option would give the same info as it is quicker to get to and I want to make use of blutooth as the connection on my old w900 came loose from all the plugging and unplugging, and i want to aviod that happening again. But if i only have 10mbs of free space for recieving anything bluetoothed, it defeats the purpose of having the bluetooth

its always been a shame that main memory on the SE symbians has not increased at the same rate as external memory because during that time, files have got larger as we use higher bit rates for music and video

this doesn't mean that BT is wasted as we can still sync via BT, connect to internet through our PC via BT, use stereo streaming etc etc etc

its only large file transfer that has the potential issue

I'm not sure what voda stick on their phones but perhaps (as usual) debranding might lesson your woes though for this problem, probably not by much
