how can I send email through smtp.voirgin.net to a @virgin.net email address but not to any other email address?
I know the Virgin smtp server authenticates so i have to connect to the ISP to send to other email addresses.
Does anyone know of an SMTP server that doesn't authenticate?

Oh I've just remembered, you're the guy after the T-Mobile SMTP server. Have you called them to ask what the IP address is for their SMTP server?
It definitely is a SMTP authentication issue, because you can send internal mail (virgin.net to virgin.net) but not to other mail servers. I had this problem when I first set my phone up on ntlworld, but orange gave me their SMTP IP address and it's worked ever since.
I think these are the other networks SMTP servers, you could always try one of these???
O2: 193.113.160.13
Vodafone: 212.183.156.228
orange: 193.35.131.155
If you get the T-Mobile one, post it here.

I phoned the data helpdesk and they said that T-Mob doesn't support 'full connectivity'. That sounds like BS to me. So they will not give me an SMTP address....
I will try the other IPs you suggested, but as I'm connected to T-M's servers through GPRS I am not holding my breath!

That's the only info I could get!
When you ping the smtp.t-mobile.uk.net address, it comes back as host unknown, so maybe the data desk are right. If you ping the pop.t-mobile.uk.net address, it turns into the old one2one mail server, which must've been the address I gave you before, I found it here on Esato from somewhere.
Sorry I can't help you any more.
