> w800 camera crashing
Bookmark topic
Hi - new forum member here. I searched for other posts about this problem but didn't find anything obviously the same.

Background:::
I have a w800i now using a T-mobile USA sim-card but originally bought from Orange UK in 2005. Using SEUS I updated the firmware to R1AA008 in early 2006 and in summer 2006 I got a guy in a shop in the UK to unlock my phone so I could use it in the USA.

Problem:::
Occasionally from late 2006 to 2007 the camera would crash when taking a shot and return me back to the main menu. Eventually by 2007 this became the case every time and also the display when preparing to take photos now appears 'grainy'. So basically the phone no longer takes any photos - it just aborts the camera menu when you click. Interestingly the video still works fine.

What I've Tried:::
I changed every possible camera setting, emptied the memory etc. I reinstalled the firmware (SEUS still recognised my unlocked phone as Orange UK so only gave me R1AA008). I even sent my phone for out-of-warranty Sony SE repair at PTS Electronics USA - but they claimed they wouldn't fix it as it had been damaged by an illegal 'flashing'.

Can You Help?:::
I think this is a software issue as the video still works. Should I buy DaVinci access to upload a newer firmware and re-flash the phone? What is all this I am reading about camera drivers? Could this help?
Thanks for reading this long post.

Sorry to be so naive but after not looking on Esato for about a year and suddenly seeing all these posts about camera drivers I need someone to direct me to a description of these and how I install them. Thanks
