strange though, people who have green flashing lights want them off, and people who don't have these on their phone often want them added!

i dont want a green flashing light on my k750i, it would make it look horrible.

I was talking generally

but I do like it when I have it. it gives a reassuring blink that you have network coverage and is easier to see thank looking at the screen. mind you, coverage these days is so much better than it used so perhaps this is not so neccessary any more.

but I do recall endless threads here previously for the likes of P800 and T68 from people who wanted to be able to turn it off

Do what masseur said, give it a gentle tug then put electrical insulation tape around the end of it so it can't cause any damage.
