> USB Cable issues with K800i and Macintosh

I am running Tiger 10.4.9 on a G4 Powerbook and when I plug my K800i into my Mac via USB, the Mac finds both the phone and my memory card for data. Both show up seperately on the desktop "Phone" & "Memory Card" When I eject one the K800i tells me that I can safely remove the cable. However, the other icon stays on the desktop and does not let me eject it and tells me a program is still using it, no matter how I try to eject it. The phone on the other hand says I can disconnect. When I do disconnect the Mac gives me the warning that I shut the connection off improperly, the phone seems to act normally. Also when the one or the other icon is shut off, the remaining one does not allow any data transfer. Is this just a fluke and should I just ignore the Mac's warning or is there a risk here and if so, is there a way to hard shut off the other USB icon?
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: 3G via the K800i Modem & the Powerbook is Sweet

Best way to do this is as follows:
1) Highlight both icons on the desktop
2) Press Apple-E (or choose Eject from the File menu)
3) As soon as the icons disappear from the Desktop, unplug the cable.
