Hi all
tnx for ur usefull guidances, and also abt the forum.
I just bought an 802.11g ADSL2+ modem router for my house in order to have wireless internet around, with my laptop and the P990i!
and this is my problem I faced:
The P990 WLAN connected to the router but the web browser (Opera) don`t open pages and say: " Could`nt locate the remote server".
I tried all situations and settings while setting up the lan account and internet account (like shared, WPA, Open and ...), but nothing changed and I still can`t open the pages.
What is your Idea?
How can i fix this?
I also saw a page in SE support, and did the jobs it said, but nothing changed!
is this new Firmware help me?
Do u suggest me to update it?
The sounds like u all suggested to upgrade, but in this case, what`s ur idea?
My sys. Infos are:
phone: CXC162037 R7A001
Bluetooth: CXC162058 R4F01
Organizer: CXC162036 R3B01
CDA: CDA162007/2 R3B01

Maybe it don`t support wifi.When i try to open orange.multimedia,i get that,but when i open up orange.co.uk it works ok.

it has nothing to do with that.
i got this problem too in the same firmware and when i updated it it works smoothly,so update and you'll love it.

If i`m right,none of the net works support wifi.So when using an orange sim,if i go to orange.mulitimedia,which is orange world home page,i get cannot locate remote server.If i go to orange.multimedia using orange gprs,i get no problem.If i go to orange.co.uk using wifi,which is there web page, i get no problems.

no, unfortunately that is not correct. Orange.multimedia specifically checks that you are connecting via an Orange connection, this is so only Orange customers can use Orange services... but 99.9% of web sites don't care how you connect to them be it by wifi, dial up, gprs, 3g etc
this router... is is only 802.11g as you mention in your first post or does it support, and have you got it set to use 802.11b? because the P990 only supports 802.11b

i am now having this problem with wifi and using GPRS, every time i try to open a website e.g. google.co.uk or wap.sonyericsson.com, i could not locate remote server, i updated my phone today.....not sure why that is happening. I know wifi is working cause to test the connection i created an email account to see if it would download the emails, and it did....any ideas what the problem maybe?

Yes each device that supports 802.11g also supports 802.11b.
so any other idea?
seems this is a problem that each wifi user may face!

First try to update your router if there is a new f/w for it, when add your phone on the DHCP server at your router. What should do the trick
