I come back from a bit of traveling, nice and calm, I start to sort out business, packaged over 30 items and then go to the post office.
When I send a usual stock item it used to be £1.12, this is a tiny packet which weighs about 30g. Now it's £1.18 only a 4p increse, but the same package last year was £1.00 dead on. and this keeps on happening.
when all the size and weight crap came in they said it would be cheaper for the majority of consumers, but it's not all they did is allow you to send 100g rather then 60g in a smaller envelope. Eversince that system was introduced my postal costs have risen by 30% meaning I have to pass more costs to the customers.
I don't understand why posrage prices have risen olmost 20% in a year... it's not inflation and the rm have been cutting thier costs dramatically which is reflected in their services.
They don't even deliever specials on saturdays any more unless you pay the extra.
I wish they would f**k right off and a new company would come in, a bit of serious competition would be nice

no it wouldnt it would mean they would have someone to compete with making service better and prices cheaper.
Even you can't denigh that the service is over priced and not up to standard.
My old posty was a ledgend, did a cracking job, even wore his shorts all year round for charity.
He was then laid off because of cheap labour being brought in. After he went service declied in my aera.
They are a public service and should not be dicking the consumers

The increases in prices aint on i admit, dont see how your postie was sacked because of cheap labour? Everyone gets paid the same? Dont matter whether your from Eastern Europe or Outer Mongolia.... We still all get paid the same....

my brother sent a £1200 head unit from his car back to Pioneer yesterday via special delivery and it cost £19.45, that was just the head unit with no box which is the size of a book, it is quite heavy but £19.45 is ridiculous!!

Royal mail have been a bit dumped on by the government.
When the government opened up the market to compettion they did it at royal mails expense. Companies like UK Mail can collect bulk mail from their customers and charge a low price as they dont have to actually deliver it. The government set a very low price that RM can charge these other companies to deliver their mail and they are not allowed to refuse. This means that some companies can collect mail from bulk senders (like british gas), charge a small fee and then give the letters to rm to deliver. A lot of the time the price that rm get is less than it cost them to deliver the letter and all because the government tell them that they have to. This means that rm have to pass the cost onto us normal folk.

Ahh bliss was the days when you could just buy a 1st Class stamp and post it anywhere
Today if it don't go through the Slot you have to pay extra,
cost me 48p to send a Application form to CPW today d'uh!
I find sending packages still the same price I can't moan with them but letters what a malarky

JC White is completely correct.
Also it costs RM more to send a 1st class letter than the actual stamp! RM only make there money on Business mail, and with more and more business's moving elsewhere RM are getting pushed out of the market.
