When I take out my P990i from its case it behaves like its flip is just closed even though keys are locked. I noticed it because SMP tries to close applications even though there is no application running that could be closed.
After investigating for a while I noticed that it is due to the magnetic button of the case. I could recreate the scene by passing the phone near the case button while the phone is not in the case. This case is SE branded (I bought it believing as genuine SE but it might be fake one) designed for P900/P910i. It seems that P990i senses the flip operation via magnetic switch instead of mechanical switch.
My concern is: Will the case damage the phone?
This damn case (with the phone!) has dropped twice from my belt (I have this phone about two months). I almost lost the phone in a train when it was dropped second time and I did not notice immediately. Fortunately I found it because it was dropped nearby my seat only couple of minutes before I realized that it was missing. I dialed the number with another phone and found the phone ringing on a lady's hand.
I don't think it is firmware issue, just FYI: Firmware version:
Phone:CXC162037 R9EC001
BT:CXC162058 R5A01
Organizer:CXC162090 R4B03
CDA:162008/68 R6A02
I am using the phone for receiving emails and would like to use for PIM and other applications after the firmware upgrade. I am crazy that I can't update it as it seems that no update is available for this CDA version.

Yes, the magnetic interference caused by the casing happened to me as well, but my phone turned out to much more stable compared to other horror stories on this forum, so I guess you have nothing to worry about. When I found out about it I quickly ditched the casing and bought me a noreve casing which is perfectly detailed and safe. My CDA is world generic 2 so I have managed to update to the latest fw and i have to say it is excellent. You can have yours flashed to world generic 1 at kulankendi so you can have the update as well
