> P910i contacts to W950i
Bookmark topic
Hi, I have a backup of my P910i, but unfortunately, the phone is now smashed into pieces

Does anybody know how I can restore the contacts from the backup onto my W950i?
I've managed to extract C:\system\data\Contacts.cdb from the backup file (which is just a zip file), but I don't know what format it is in, MS Access won't open it
Anyway, my plan was to attempt to replace the contacts.cdb in a backup from my new phone, but the zip file that is the new backup is password protected, how annoying!
Any other ideas? Should I just find somebody with a P910i, restore the backup onto their phone and transfer the contacts?
Another plan was to look at the SDK and see if there was a way to do it using an emulator or something, but that's not going to be a 5 minute job, although I do work with an ex Symbian / UIQ programmer, so they can get me started.
I'm assuming this problem is similar for any UIQ2 -> UIQ3 upgrade.
Cheers!

have you tried transfering the file directly onto your phone and seeing if you can open it from there?

maybe you could use a 3th phone.... let me explain;
get yourself (or a friend) with a p990, restor the old backup to the phone.
now you can send the entire phonebook to the w850 using bluetooth.
and give him back the phone.

Other than the fact that the faulty phone is a P910 (not P990) and that the new phone is a W950 (not W850), that's what I would do.

Yeah, but the only people I know with a P910i are in no way local to me.

if you trust the person with the p910 who lived far away then why not email them the file? they might even be able to txt you the contacts as one big vcard.
