I have a strange problem with my p990i (apart from the random restarts, that is!)
Every so often my phone will appear 'switched off' to the outside world - that is to say, it looks as though it's OK, and I can use any of the applications OK, including the camera and radio, but if somebody calls me they get a recorded message saying the phone's switched off. At the same time, if I try to make a call the phone just hangs...anyone come across this?
I updated the firmware today, with no effect on this problem.

Nope, never came across that - maybe check with your network provider? Or try master reseting the phone.

Hmm, this is the same problem with my wifes phone. I have done: format, master reset, update f/w and then master reset again. But still the problem is there. Im starting to think maybe this is a hardware problem

I have the same, but not very often. Most of the times happens after downloading data. I receive also a "SIM card error". Difficult to understand if it is hardware or Network related
