My back speaker broke. When I enter the setup and ran tests on the phone, no sound or nothing comes through my back speaker (figured since I dropped the phone once this might caused it). Does anyone know a rough price on replacing this speaker and where I can get one. My phone isn't under warranty so I'm sort of stuck - need to replace this speaker ASAP.

how is your phone not under warranty? you cant have had it for a year.I seriously doubt you would have broken it yourself! ive dropped mine a few times and have no problems at all! I would be making phone calls to your phone provider and sony ericsson demanding a replacement. Is it not insured?

one guy had the same prob, he said it was something to do with 2 springs or sumthing that got out of place and arent in contact with the terminals, so if u dont have warranty, my suggestion would be to open it up and have a look, thats the only way to diagnose the problem

How difficult is it to open up this phone? I don't want to make the problem any worse inside. Is there a step by step on removing the back covering of the phone, I remember there was one on the P910, don't know if they have one about the P990, maybe it is just the springs, any help on assisting me to open it would be great!

If you look at the video of the P990i appearing to run Linux you can see how it is done.
