> Wifi connection problem on my P990
Bookmark topic
Recently installed the new fw R5A17 and I can't connect to any Wifi hotspots.
Do a search, finds them, click connect and it just says "Unable to Connect".
Any ideas?
(So near and yet so far!)

you should look in your internet connections settings, mine were set to use gprs by default after last fw update, only found out after running up a few £££ of bill, bahh!

I've got "Default Wifi" set to be the first connection it tries in both Groups I have.
My preferred Group therefore has Default Wifi as it's first connection to try.
This is the annoying thing. Can't understand why it doesn't work.
thanks for replying anyway.

can you connect to your home wifi? if you have one that is. always easier to sort connection problems on a known, working setup first, its possible for hotspots to be quite erratic at times.

Hi Mate.
Yep, now writing this on P990 at home using Wifi connection.
Can retrieve email etc all ok too.
Just using other connections seems to be the problem.

Before I could get it to connect, but it wouldn't use (or even create) a Default Wifi account - it just kept creating and using a Prepay Wap GPRS account and adding it to the top of the Group list.
Each time I'd delete this, try again and it would just do it again.
Never managed to get it to create the default wifi.
Now - since firmware update, I have got Default Wifi and ensured it's trying to use it by making it top of priorities etc.
I can't see what setting are in there though as it says it's Read only and cannot be changed.
