The Problem:
My battery has run flat on my W900i - no charger available.
The Answer:
.....But i had a thought. My Sony Walkman NW-HD5 has a similar sized battery!
Its not similar, its identical!! just a different label on it!
actually after checking the BST-33 is 3.6v 900mAh, and the LIP-880PD is 3.7v 880mAh so almost...
so just put it in my W900 and hey presto it works!!!!
that means i can charge the walkman with a USB mini cable, and ive got a spare battery i never knew i had.

I've had both devices for almost over 18 months, and ive only just realised
i'll post actual comparison pics later.

And I was thinking you might get a better battery life using the W900 battery in your HD5, seeing it's got a higher mAh, but I don't think it'll be much longer since it's only slightly higher. Maybe you can try it out? Interesting news nonetheless, and I'm surprised you actually discovered it.

great post. but the LIP-880PD is about $30 on ebay and BST-33 is about $10 on ebay.
so it is really good for people with Sony Walkman NW-HD5 they can buy a BST-33 battery instead of the LIP-880PD.
but not worthwhile for SE phone owners to buy the LIP-880PD as a replacement battery.
